Mara Mills and Michele Friedner (University of Chicago) have been awarded one of the inaugural Dangers and Opportunities of Technology grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Their collaborative humanities research project, “The Global Cochlear Implant: Provincializing ‘Brain Implants’ Through Disability Technocultures,” will run from 2023-2025 and will result in an edited volume about sensory inequalities and implant use in different national and cultural contexts.
