Life After at Film Forum

July 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

NYU Center for Disability Studies is honored to co-present a screening of the Sundance-award winning documentary LIFE AFTER at NYC’s Film Forum on July 23 at 7:10pm introduced by Mara Mills. Join us and stay for a talkback with director Reid Davenport, disability activist & author Emily Ladau and comedian Maysoon Zayid.

A black-and-white archival image of Elizabeth Bouvia, center, in her wheelchair. She holds a pillow in her lap, and gazes ahead — mouth agape and head slightly to the side. Around her, four male lawyers in suits are staged around her, staring at her seriously. Behind her to the left, one of the lawyers crosses his arms at his chest while looking down at her, as if to scold her.

If you can’t make this event, you can use our PROMO CODE: NYUCDS for $4 off any screening during the film’s week-long run July 18–24.

From Multitude Films, LIFE AFTER is a gripping personal investigation that exposes the tangled web of moral dilemmas and profit motives surrounding assisted dying. Director Reid Davenport asks a probing question, why is it acceptable to give disabled people the means to die, before supporting them in the chance to live?
